Spring Cleaning

Welcome spring! With the sunshine and warm weather comes spring cleaning. Many people focus their cleaning efforts on garages, basements, attics and even spare rooms in their homes. While you are in spring cleaning mode, it is also a good time to have a checkup on your home.  Due to all the rain this time of year, the humidity level is higher which can cause mold growth in your home.

If you suspect something odd going on in your home, whether it is a musty smell or spots showing up on drywall, you may want to have a mold inspection done in your home.

Gabe, our certified mold specialists, looks for the cause of the mold growth.  Many times, mold growth starts at the lowest point of the home or any part of the home underground. If your block walls have a white fuzz called “efflorescence”, you do not have to worry.  The white fuzz is caused by too much exterior water finding its way into your home. Although that is not mold, it does mean there is too much humidity in the air, which can cause mold growth on paper or porous materials. If not checked it could spread into your HVAC unit, then through your whole house.

If you have any concerns while spring cleaning, give Mold Testing Services a call to come inspect and test your home for mold. If you are curious about the mold testing process, check out our previous blog post to learn more!
